Introduction

Updated: 12/9/08
Warmest aloha to you:
My name is Rhoydon Shishido.
I am a storyboard artist. I was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii.
Even before my graduation with a BFA in character animation from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California,
I have been employed in the industry. While jobs in animation have been growing increasingly scarce and difficult to acquire,
I have managed to work continuously in animation. I started my career as a storyboard artist with D.I.C.,
and over the years I have used my storyboard skills for studios such as Sony’s Adelaide Production, Disney, Imagi, Warner Brothers,
Hyperion, Hanna-Barbera Productions
, and over 20 other well known animation studios.

I am familiar with all aspects of storyboarding. I am very comfortable with visualizing, conceptualizing, and creating animated scenes which are derived from the script.
I am knowledgeable of film language, camera work and the visual flow of one scene to another. I draw characters in situational poses from the script.
I also enhance my storyboards with original and unique compositional layouts. I am also very familiar with all aspects of layout. I have experience with creating layouts for features movies, TV shows, commercials, and storybooks. I have extensive experience with development.
I have conceptualized and visualized new character properties for several feature animations.
I have an excellent understanding of different character styles such as action adventure, cartoon and live action.
I am able to draw characters in 3-dimensional space using computer animation programs.
I have done freelance and advertising artwork for a large number of agencies with clients such as Gallo, Isuzu automobiles, Paramount, Fox Video, and many, many others.

I have taken additional art courses from Art Center, Otis Art Institute of Parson's School of Design, Studio Arts, Glendale Junior College, and The Animation Guild. I have taught art courses in character animation, character posing, perspective, layout, composition, life drawing, character design, and production of a short animation show at Glendale Arts Education, Mount San Antonio Junior College, and La Mirada library.

My employers and the colleagues with whom I have worked have recognized the high quality of my work and the important role which my work has played in the many projects in which I have been involved.
In addition, I have received industry-wide recognition for the quality of my work. In 1995-1996, I received an Emmy award for outstanding achievement in animation for my work on the Warner Brothers Animaniac series.
First and foremost, I am proud of the high quality and creativity of my artwork and the professionalism which I bring all of my projects.
I enthusiastically approach each project and offer a diverse set of skills. While sometimes I have worked on projects in my own studio,
I am happiest when I am able to work as a team player. My sense of humor and friendly nature makes it easy for me to get along with a diverse group of artists.
